The publication explores the development of Georgian photography from 1955 to 2012. Fundamentally, our research represents the very first attempts to summarize and illustrate the path that Georgian photography took over the past 60 years. This effort was not simple, as much is still unknown about the history of Georgian photography – especially this particular time period. Publishing of this book was thereby determined by impressive boost in popularity of photography in Georgia over the past 10 years.

Die Publikation erforscht die historische Entwicklung der georgischen Fotografie von 1955 bis 2012. Die Versuche richten sich strikt nach wesentlichen Erkenntnissen in der Fotografie – etwa über die Wege und Richtungen, die die georgische Fotografie über die letzten 60 Jahre ausgemacht hat. Die Veröffentlichung dieses Buches wurde durchaus geprägt von einem gewachsenen Interesse im Laufe der letzten 10 Jahre, vor allem an der Fotografie als Kunst, bzw. am Fotograf als Künstler.
