The installation is part of a comprehensive multidisciplinary project, PARAJANOV 100, which explores the legacy of the Georgian-Armenian director Sergei Parajanov (1924–1990). Through her installation, Irina Kurtishvili delves into Parajanov's era, demonstrating the intersections between his art and personal life. She examines the connections between temporal and spatial aspects, as well as Parajanov's national identities and the actions of Soviet authorities. The installation serves as a clear reference to the history of the Caucasus, while also reminding us of the decline of the Soviet Union, the transience, the disintegration of the system, and thus, the passage of time.
A variety of artifacts were collected for the installation to create a literary and architectural reading. Fin de Siècle antiques are interspersed with objects from various decades of the 20th century. These include steel cutlery, drinking horns, hand-painted bowls and glasses, including the 16-sided glasses known as "stakan" glasses. The tableware is complemented by postcards and tourist maps, plans and albums, as well as architecture books with illustrations of Armenian churches that served as film sets for Parajanov. Additionally, private photographs of Parajanov and photos from his film shoots were included.
